In Metro Detroit, a culinary revolution has been taking root. Farm-to-table restaurants are blossoming, embracing the ethos of sourcing local ingredients to provide fresh, sustainable, and delightful dining experiences. These establishments are not just serving food; they are cultivating connections with the community, fostering relationships with local farmers, and advocating for nature’s bounty. Here’s a closer look at some of the shining stars in Metro Detroit’s farm-to-table scene.

CHARTREUSE KITCHEN & COCKTAILS

15 East Kirby Street, Suite D, Detroit

Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails, has long been a pioneer of the farm-to-table movement. Owner Sandy Levine shares, “Chartreuse has always maintained close relationships with local farms since before we opened our doors. We don’t have a walk-in refrigerator or freezer, and our storage space/kitchen is extremely limited. Because of this, we’ve always been highly dependent on fresh, local produce. Our bright cuisine matches the open, airy decor of our sunny dining room and the warm hospitality provided by our staff.” The menu depends on the daily delivery, hence why it is constantly changing and offering new dishes for guests. Some stand-out dishes include Semolina gnocchi, lamb strip loin, and Thai chicken sausage if you can catch them.

To take what is provided and prepare it with integrity, creativity, and thoughtfulness. To present it with humbleness, simplicity, and frankness. To advocate for nature and the bounty it provides.” Sylvan Table’s commitment to sourcing locally ensures that every dish is fresh, flavorful, and filled with the essence of Michigan’s lands. From the grass-fed steak to the Michigan lake perch, Sylvan Table offers the freshest of meals.
